London in one day

Day 7:
We only allotted one day for London, which proved to be more difficult than we even imagined. While the public transportation in the city is extremely elaborate, we were trying to be budget-conscious so we ended up walking a large part of the day. Needless to say, I thoroughly regretted my choice in footwear.

We started our day in one of the most picturesque areas of London, Notting Hill. I typically prefer a neutral color palette but something about the flats being painted in a variation of pastels was perfectly charming. We then walked through Kensington Palace gardens and stopped at an almost hidden cafe down an alleyway called Charlie's. We of course had to see Big Ben and the London Tower, but we were equally thrilled with Covent Garden, a market full of shops and people of all different cultures. London was very much a multicultural city, jam-packed with tourists; so after a long day of exploring, we found ourselves back at Brixton Village again, where we ate dumplings at Mama Lan and somehow felt comforted by the familiarity and the sense that this was our very own local niche.
